He has led engineering teams, including Cloud9 IDE, which was acquired by AWS. Nikolai was responsible for the establishment of the AWS office in Amsterdam and left when the office scaled to 200 people. Over the years, he contributed to open-source projects and had frequent speaking engagements at major tech conferences. Next to technology, Nikolai has a background in Jazz guitar and Indian music and is involved in regenerative agriculture.

Travis is the CFO at Asymmetric, responsible for finance and operations. Travis is a seasoned executive who successfully scaled numerous technology companies. Travis was CFO at Blueshift, LoanSnap, NodeSource (acquired by i2), FusionOps (now Aera Technologies) and AnchorFree (acquired by WndrCo). Prior, Travis was Vice President of Finance at Walmart and Kosmix (acquired by Walmart to become @WalmartLabs).

Lukasz is a Senior Associate at Asymmetric, focusing on supporting and investing in projects within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Before joining Asymmetric, Lukasz worked in M&A at a private equity-backed rollup and began his career in investment banking. In addition to his role at the fund, Lukasz is an active angel investor, backing crypto startups that drive technological innovation and transform decentralized finance.

Lashane is the Trading Operations Coordinator at Asymmetric, overseeing the post-trade operations across hedge and venture funds while maintaining and enhancing operational infrastructure to streamline overall fund operations. Prior to joining Asymmetric in 2022, Lashane worked in foreign investment advisory and a multi-family office, focusing on building and optimizing systems that support investment activities.

Emma is the Chief of Staff to Asymmetric’s Founder, CEO & CIO, Joe McCann. Before joining the team in early 2024, she was the Personal Assistant to Expensify’s Founder & CEO, David Barrett. Emma excels at managing complex logistics, optimizing executive priorities, and handling myriad projects. With a keen eye for detail and efficiency, Emma ensures top-level operations run seamlessly for the CEO and the company overall.

Jesse is the Operations and Portfolio Manager for Asymmetric Ventures Fund I. He played a key role in launching the fund, managing critical operations. In 2024, he transitioned to Portfolio Manager, overseeing investments and fund strategy. Previously, Jesse spent over a decade in academia, directing music programs. He also worked with startups during the music industry’s digital shift, contributing to innovations that shaped modern streaming on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
